Act now to get settled in by Christmas
I saw an advert the other day which was promoting a Christmas event in a restaurant. At first I was horrified. Fancy promoting a festive event in the first week of September?
Even though we’ve not had much of a summer to enjoy in terms of weather my mind still isn’t ready to conjure up thoughts of the colder, darker months.
But this advert did get me thinking. Without making a rod for our own backs most sales take around three to four months to complete.
We get a lot of people coming in to us in September and October saying they want to be in their new place for Christmas.
As I’ve said before in this column autumn and winter house hunters are usually the most motivated and serious people in the market. They have a deadline for when they want to be in their new homes which often makes the sale smoother to transact.
If you’re thinking of moving and want to be carving up the turkey in a new home it’s time to be like that restaurant I mentioned and act NOW.
Hopefully the quicker your property is valued, marketed and sold, the sooner you’ll be in your new home.
Christmas may feel a long way away at the moment but you’ll be pulling crackers, gorging on sausage rolls and watching repeats of Only Fools and Horses before you know it.
Thanks for reading.
