I read an article recently highlighting some letting agents across the country who quite frankly should be ashamed of themselves.
The range of ‘crimes’ included unfairly holding back tenants’ deposits, NOT providing landlords with inventories and having complicated, jargon filled terms and conditions which in one case stretched to 50 pages long! (For the record ours are 11 pages long and in good old fashioned plain English.)
In my experience it doesn’t matter whether you are a landlord or a tenant nearly everyone wants the same things from a lettings agent.
For me the hallmark of a good letting agent is one who looks after the tenant as well as the landlord.
Everyone we deal with is treated with respect, honesty and integrity. Our terms and conditions are clearly advertised on our website for anyone to download.
We are a member of The Property Ombudsman’s Lettings Scheme, a verified member of the Trading Standards Institute and for less formal but equally as important peace of mind we have a long list of tenants and landlords happy to recommend us.

Back in the spring we surveyed the local lettings market and produced a report. Our findings showed that 1-2 bed properties were the most in demand, allocated parking and being close to a railway station were top of a tenant’s wish list and that the biggest deciding factor for tenants was how the property looked.
Four months on from that report and the wish list tenants provide to us is pretty much the same.
