Terry’s Team Talk
Hello and welcome back to my blog.
I read a great quote earlier this week about the importance of having a good team, it stated; “None of us are as smart as ALL of us.”
For me that summed up the great bunch of people we have here at Carnabys.
Each member of the team has different skills and attributes. Some of our qualities and beliefs overlap especially the focus everyone in the office has on providing our clients with the best possible experience.
In a good team everyone plays their part. For more than 20 years now I’ve worked with Tina our offices sales manager. Tina is living proof that women can multi-task a hell of a lot better than men.
She has a wealth of local knowledge, superb organisational skills and her dedicated approach to helping clients have proved priceless over the years.
When I launched Carnabys back in 2001 Tina was by my side and for me she’s the glue that keeps us all together.
Wendy, our senior negotiator, is our office’s Steven Gerrard. Just like the recently retired footballing legend she does everything really well. Her experience in estate agency spans sales and lettings and her helpful and generous nature means she genuinely cares about each and every client.
Diane is the office’s new girl. She’s been with us for 18 months and her practical, bubbly and fun nature sees her strike up rapport with people really quickly. Like everyone else in the office Diane is hands on and we all get involved when needed to ensure the services we provide are professional, efficient and successful.
Finally we have our numbers man Robert. As our financial director Robert’s knowledge is invaluable to us. I’m proud that as a company we’ve got through the tough times which saw many other estate agencies falling by the wayside. Robert’s calm, measured expertise has played a big part in our survival, success and growth.
At Carnabys we genuinely care and take pride in what we do. It’s not just a marketing man’s strap line.
So what do you want from your estate agent? The vast majority of people want exactly what our team is passionate about and that’s being honest, giving expert advice and working hard to get the best result for our clients.
Away from the office let’s take a look at the local market in and around Burgess Hill. We’re experiencing a real buoyancy and confidence among buyers. Many of our recent sales have gone through above the asking price. I put this down to demand for homes in this area.
It’s that demand which is driving the planned new developments in this area. The proposed housing scheme on the Northern Arc could bring an extra 4000 homes to the area in the next few years if it’s approved. Watch this space for updates on that, the market in general and anything else affecting property in the area.
Thanks for reading.

Terry’s Top Tip: Don’t pick an agent just based on the asking price alone. Your relationship with an agent should be one of trust and transparency.
